2002 Conference

One of the most popular speakers at the conference, author Christopher Paul Curtis spoke to another packed house in his Saturday morning session titled “Dedication and Inspiration.”

The first ever Job Fair at a VSRA Conference was a huge success! School districts and universities/colleges from all over Virginia manned booths from 9:00 – 2:00 to share the opportunities they have to offer, and many conferees took advantage of the information!

A conferee learns about the educational opportunities available at Liberty University’s Job Fair Booth.

Mem Fox charmed and delighted a large and appreciative audience with her presentation to the Fourth General Session at the conclusion of the Conference. Sharing from her personal experiences and reading from her much-loved collection of books kept the audience completely involved and engaged from the opening to the close of her presentation!

Dr. W. Randolph Nichols, Superintendent of Chesapeake Public Schools and a staunch VSRA supporter, brings greetings to the Conference attendees at the Fourth General Session.

And the crowd goes wild! As Mem Fox wraps up her remarks, the audience demonstrates its appreciation for her artistry and ability to reach people through her work and words.

Brenda Greever, Nancy Davenport, and Mem Fox have a few minutes to chat and relax after the Conference has come to a successful conclusion!

The journey the conferees took during the VSRA “Sailing on Literacy…Navigating the Future” conference was invigorating and revitalizing. They went back to their schools refreshed and renewed.
